Bitter Lake Warband
My creative output within the 28 community over the last few years has focused on a series of headcanon projects based on Games Workshop's Chaos God Slaanesh. Combining elements from new and older kits I hope to walk a line between 'Middlehammer' and contemporary sculpts.

The name Bitter Lake originates from my warband's leader, a Contorted Epitome. The two words perfectly sum up the dark oppressive mirror entity. A portal so black and deep it pulls at the soul. As if it were a light-absorbing body of water or lake. "If you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back..." etc. etc.
This seemed like an incredibly cool concept based on one of the lesser explored characters from the newer Slaanesh range.
To quickly sum up Bitter Lake's origin story... (I hope to flesh this out into prose down the line)
Originally used as a weapon of war by the daemonic forces of Chaos. After a major defeat at the hands of a great 'Order' coalition it is left on the battlefield in ruins.
It is taken as a trophy to commemorate the battle. It ends up secured in the vault of a fortress of one of the great human warlords. A reminder of their great victory.
From within the fortress vault it begins to corrupt and twist those who live inside the walls.
Slowly spreading Slaaneshi corruption until the entire fortress is driven mad.
Inside the vault the Contorted Epitome Bitter Lake begins to manifest lesser daemons which enter the mortal realms from the 'portal' like mirror.
The residence who have been driven to insanity are eventually seduced enough to willingly open the vault doors, allowing Bitter Lake and its small but deadly warband to ransack the fortress from the inside out. Eventually leaving the fortress once sated.
The remains of the fortress and those surviving residents are 'purged' by neighbouring human and elven forces once the corruption becomes apparent.
Bitter Lake and it's loyal followers eventually find their way out into the wilder open lands. They are cut off from their deity and fall back to savage, instinctive vices. This is represented by their pallid and pale colour scheme, which contrasts with the classic Slaanesh colours.
